As both a scientist and a spiritualist, I take great comfort and pleasure in the fact that all efforts of modern science have done virtually nothing to dispel the notion that the material universe is comprised of four elements whose nature and interaction define the basis of our phenomenal world.  Ritual worship of the Mother Goddess in any of Her aspects nearly always involves acknowledgement and propitiation of these elemental powers.

I chose the four fixed zodiac signs of Aquarius (air), Taurus (earth), Leo (fire), and Scorpio (water) as canonical representations of these four aspects of the Goddess's energy.  They represent the only work that I have currently done in pastel, a medium that I found to be inconvenient to work with but novel in its ability to quickly develop soft, blended hues.  You can click on any of the above to get a larger image; I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I did drawing and contemplating them!
